3. President Hollywood Hogan?
Hulk Hogan basically ran WWE from the mid-80s to the early-90s. Why not give him a shot at running America?
On an edition of The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, the ‘Hulkster’ – who was going through his “Hollywood” phase as part of the New World Order in WCW – appeared as a guest to seemingly announce his retirement from pro wrestling.
Now, when most people retire from their job, they often take up new hobbies; relaxing activities like knitting, gardening, or going for walks in the countryside. Obviously, nobody told Hogan that this was what he was supposed to do, because he announced that, following his retirement, he was going to run for President of the United States in the 2000 Presidential Election.
Sadly, we never got to see Hogan drop a leg on Al Gore, because the whole thing was just a publicity stunt; a desperate attempt from a sinking WCW to grab some mainstream attention. Hogan was actually back in a WCW ring one month later, which unfortunately lead to the Bash at the Beach 2000 incident. Maybe he should have ran for President after all. At least it would have spared us that Vince Russo “shoot” promo.
It’s not too late for the ‘Hulkster’, but I think recent events may have halted and chance of him getting elected. Although, if the current President is anything to go by, it may not hinder him at all.
