Will Ospreay vs. Jon Moxley at AEW All Out won’t be the end of the feud

AEW All Out takes place on September 26, with Will Ospreay defending the World Championship against Jon Moxley, but it may not end there.

Over the past months, Jon Moxley has been playing mind games with Will Ospreay, breaking down the star and rebuilding him into the man that holds the AEW World Championship.

It’s been quite the journey for Ospreay, returning from surgery and finding kinship in Death Riders, before splitting off only to find himself in the orbit of Moxley.

With their main event match at AEW All Out, the feud shouldn’t end there, regardless of the result:

Ospreay has been positioned as a top star since signing with AEW in November 2023, having been prominently featured regularly before that, and for good reason.

A talented, charismatic presence, it would be a foolish move for Ospreay to lose the AEW World Championship so soon after winning it.

Whether it’s a clean victory or with interference, it’ll set the tone for the rest of Ospreay’s reign and he will surely step up to the plate when it comes to delivering on that goal.

Under a month into his stewardship of the AEW World Champion, he’s a long way from matching the shortest reign of Moxley’s four, being 273 days from WrestleDream in October 2024 to All In the following year.

Death Riders & United Empire Cost The Match

Death Riders have been a thorn in Ospreay’s side since he broke away from the group, and were hardly the easiest on him while he was a member.

Ospreay may be building his own United Empire, but the lineup is not a patch on who Jon Moxley has beside him as leader of Death Riders.

It’s easy to see the match going to a disqualification finish, with the title remaining in Ospreay’s hands, with Death Riders or United Empire playing into that. When it comes to United Empire, there’s the possibility that a disgruntled Callum Newman may make the trip from NJPW to remind Ospreay just who is in charge.

Jon Moxley already has the most AEW World Championship reigns of any star, sitting at four and one ahead of MJF.

A victory for Moxley would do little to elevate the star, although it would remind Ospreay that the Death Riders leader made him and can easily break him.

There’s a feud to be had, whether Moxley takes the title or not.

Death Riders Take Over

Assuming Moxley can’t get the job done and Ospreay definitively beats him, there is an opportunity for Death Riders to unleash hell on their leader, exiling him from the faction, while also delivering a beatdown to the World Champion and any members of United Empire who show their faces.

Of all the members of Death Riders who could lead that charge, it’s likely to be Gabe Kidd, who sees his allegiances split between Death Riders and The Dogs. Bringing both factions together in a Moxley-less era would strengthen Death Riders and allow a feral Kidd to be even more vicious.

Keep The AEW World Championship On Will Ospreay

Will Ospreay is a World Champion that AEW fans can get behind. As confident on the microphone as Kenny Omega or MJF, he’s in a league of his own when it comes to in-ring work.

Cutting the reign short wouldn’t make sense for a man in Ospreay’s position, particularly with the popularity that the star has long experienced. In an ideal world, Ospreay’s first reign should be a lengthy one, allowing him to establish himself as a true champion, instead of just someone who happened to hold the title for a while.

Ospreay has the ability to tell compelling stories with many top and rising members of the AEW roster, and to allow him to do that with the World Championship will elevate everyone involved.
