CM Punk may have just confirmed his plans to use his old This Fire Burns theme song this weekend at WWE Worlds Collide in Chicago.
When WWE announced that it’s latest Worlds Collide show would be taking place in Chicago on the same night as AEW All Out, most fans immediately speculated that CM Punk would be in action on the show.
At TripleMania, a teaser for Worlds Collide aired featuring CM Punk in his old Straight Edge Society lucha mask that he wore on WWE television back in 2010 after he had his head shaved by Rey Mysterio at Over The Limit.
It was then advertised on the Allstate Arena website, and later confirmed by AAA General Manager Rey Mysterio, that Punk would indeed be in action on the show, teaming with AAA Mega Champion El Grande Americano and Rey himself to face Dominik Mysterio, JD McDonagh and Omos.
The poster for the event has since been updated, now featuring Punk wearing his mask from 2010 from his time in the Straight Edge Society.
CM Punk bringing back This Fire Burns at WWE Worlds Collide
When Punk wore the mask on WWE television, it was a year before his famous Pipebomb promo that catapulted him into superstardom with his Cult of Personality theme song, with Punk at the time still using his popular This Fire Burns theme song by Killswitch Engage.
With Punk returning to the mask at Worlds Collide, many wondered if he would also bring back This Fire Burns for one night only, and he has now seemingly confirmed that may be the case.
Taking to his Instagram, Punk posted the poster of the event with This Fire Burns as the music choice, as well as sharing lyrics to it in the caption.
He wrote:
Chicago! Your straight edge savior RETURNS! Along with a cast and crew of familiar faces, old foes, new faces and some surprises along the way!
How long does this fire burn? ALWAYS! @luchalibreaaa @wwenxt @wwe
Will fans be able to watch Worlds Collide?
With the event just days away, WWE has yet to announce any way that fans will be able to watch WWE Worlds Collide.
AAA events typically stream on YouTube internationally, with many assuming that Worlds Collide would do the same, but there has been no announcement on that as of yet.
As the event draws closer, it seems that the only way to watch the show is to be at the Allstate Arena this weekend.
