WWE has announced that Trick Williams will defend the United States Championship against Baron Corbin in a Steel Cage match on SmackDown.
After making his return to WWE on the July 10 episode of SmackDown, Baron Corbin instantly took aim at the United States Championship, taking out both Trick Williams and Carmelo Hayes during their match.
This led to a championship match between Corbin and Trick at SummerSlam, with Corbin picking up the win to begin his second reign as United States Champion.
Corbin held the title until Sunday Night’s Main Event in Atlanta, where he faced off against Lil Yachty in a five minute challenge, which Yachty survived.

Yachty surviving the challenge led to Trick immediately getting a rematch for the United States Championship, with Trick regaining the title to begin his second reign.
However, Trick and Corbin’s rivalry continued on the following episode of SmackDown, with Baron Corbin leaving Lil Yachty laying backstage during Trick’s celebration segment.
Now it seems as though the rivalry will come to an end on this week’s episode of SmackDown in Indianapolis, as SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis officially announced that Corbin and Trick would face off in a Steel Cage match on the show.
Who is next for Trick Williams as United States Champion?
With Trick’s rivalry with Corbin set to end on this week’s SmackDown, we will soon see some potential new challengers for Trick’s title in the coming weeks.
Carmelo Hayes has not appeared on SmackDown since his loss to Corbin in his hometown of Boston following Corbin’s title win at SummerSlam, with he and Trick still yet to have their first singles clash on the main roster.
Other names on SmackDown we could soon see chase after the United States Championship include names like Johnny Gargano, Rey Fenix, Damian Priest following his betrayal of R-Truth and potential returning names like Drew McIntyre.
In the immediate future, Trick is set to be part of this year’s Money In The Bank Ladder match alongside Bron Breakker, Je’von Evans and Penta, and two more names yet to be confirmed for the match, with Trick being seen as one of the early favourites to take home the briefcase.
