Former WWE Stars To Re-Sign With The Company

The past few months have seen some familiar faces show back up in WWE and make an immediate impact.

Baron Corbin returned in July, and in his first match back in the company, he won the WWE United States Championship from Trick Williams. One day after Corbin’s big title win, Big Cass also returned to WWE and made an immediate impact by laying out Je’Von Evans.

With others such as Paige also coming back this year, we could see WWE look to their past even more before 2027 rolls around.

Here are five former WWE stars to potentially re-sign with the company.

FTR

It has now been three months since FTR’s Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler last wrestled on AEW programming, with the pair’s last appearance being AEW Double or Nothing on May 25, when they lost their AEW World Tag Team Titles to Adam Copeland & Christian Cage.

It was reported shortly after their most recent AEW match that Dax and Cash were approaching the option year in their AEW contracts, with WWE carrying “preliminary interest” in their signatures.

While we have seen FTR flirt with the idea of returning to WWE before, only to re-sign with AEW, there’s a chance this time we may see it happen.

While Dax and Cash did win every tag title available to them during their first run in WWEl, they also had to deal with some lousy creative and a second stint under the current WWE regime could potentially rectify that somewhat.

Enzo Amore

With Big Cass returning to WWE earlier this month, many assumed that his partner Enzo Amore wouldn’t be too far behind given reports over the Summer indicated that the former Cruiserweight Champion would also be back in the company.

With Cass returning as a monster heel rather than a babyface, it’s harder to imagine the scenario where Enzo returns alongside his seven foot tall companion, so perhaps Dave Meltzer’s update from back in May is right and Enzo will instead be returning to NXT rather than the main roster.

Cass is in phenomenal shape and has worked incredibly hard to get back to WWE, so he has earned a run as a serious singles star. However, many fans will be holding onto the hope that Enzo also comes back and they get the band together once again.

Enzo and Cass’ original run on main roster together was needlessly cut short, as there was a point when they were the most over act in the company. While they likely wouldn’t get to that point again, they could certainly recapture some of the magic.

Donovan Dijak

If WWE can look at potentially reuniting Enzo Amore with Big Cass, perhaps they can also one day bring back Donovan Dijak to team with his Skyscrapers teammate Baron Corbin in WWE.

While never a WWE tag team, so obviously very different from Enzo and Cass’ potential reunion, The Skyscrapers were, and still are, a formidable outfit in MLW, and their run was probably the highlight of Corbin’s indie stint as Bishop Dyer.

Dijak has stated that he would be open to reuniting with Corbin in WWE under the right circumstances, but it’s unclear whether that is something WWE are interested in also.

Once Corbin’s United States Title run is over and he needs some fresh direction, WWE could do a lot worse than bring Dijak in and reunite the pair. The WWE tag team divisions need a lot of work, and The Skyscrapers could certainly help in the rebuild.

Braun Strowman

Unlike many released stars, who left WWE and looked to continue plying their trade on the independent scene or another company, Braun Strowman has remained away from the ring since his May 2025 release.

Instead, ‘The Monster of All Monsters’ has turned his attention to the world of television and currently hosts his own food show on USA Network: ‘Everything on the Menu with Braun Strowman.’

Strowman stated in October last year that he was “taking a break” from wrestling, but his hands are “always ready if anybody wants them.”

With his show taking place on the same station as SmackDown, and Strowman having guests from WWE on there such as Alexa Bliss and Mark Henry, it feels like a WWE return in some capacity – even if just for a cameo, or limited dates deal – could be a possibility for Braun more than many other former talents.

Sheamus

In one of many surprising WWE departures this year, Sheamus exited the company after almost 20 years in July.

At 48 years old, Sheamus will likely look to test himself outside WWE and put himself up against a host of opponents that he missed out on over the past two decades.

However, given his legendary status in WWE, Sheamus could potentially find himself back in the company in a few years for a Hall of Fame induction and perhaps even one last run.

He may yet find another home in wrestling elsewhere, but WWE will of course always be where Sheamus’ is associated with, and the company would be wise to bring him back in some capacity later down the road.
