Jaida Parker’s WWE main roster debut: Now, that’s how to do a bait-and-switch

When it comes to WWE main roster call-ups, fans have seen it all over the years, yet Jaida Parker’s Raw debut was top-notch storytelling.

The September 29 episode of WWE Raw saw Jaida Parker called up from NXT, bookending the show with two very different personas.

Deploying the former NXT star in this role was arguably a masterstroke and lands her on WWE Raw with an impact she may not have got through more conventional means:

The Setup

With The Bloodline (sans Roman Reigns) in the ring, Jimmy Uso would recount what had happened over recent weeks with The 946, including the abduction of Solo Sikoa.

Jacob Fatu was equally angered, reminding fans that he had tried to convince The Usos to “play it slow” before planning their move, seeming to regret his decision and promising that The Bloodline would go at it with The 946.

Jey Uso would also have his say before we saw the car that The Bloodline figured was carrying The 946, only to be greeted by Jaida Parker, looking concerned and declaring that she was there to talk to Adam Pearce. It was made more intriguing by the relationship between Parker and Jey Uso, something she commented on in a Twitter post.

As main roster debuts go, it was understated. There wasn’t an “I’m here, I want this star” moment, or “I’m coming for the title”. There wasn’t even an “unfinished business” angle, reflecting on her time in NXT.

The Diversion

The final moments of WWE Raw saw The Bloodline and The 946 come to blows outside and inside the ring, with the factions brawling backstage..

Adam Pearce wasn’t able to keep control as The Usos, Bronco Nima and Lucien Price went at it in the ring, with Fatu and Keys unleashing aggression at ringside.

The balance of power would shift as both teams collided outside the ring, with the battle continuing backstage and into the car park. For Keys, he would destroy Fatu with a chair in the ring, only for the Samoan Werewolf to gain the upper hand, sending The 946 leader into the backstage area.

The Payoff

With Keys and Fatu continuing their brawl into the car park, the leader of The 946 would attempt to make his escape in a car, using its door to level The Bloodline member, who stumbled, fell and regained his footing, only to be taken out by a driver.

Whereas previous eras may have seen a mystery emerge as to the identity or motives of the driver, it was revealed as a distraught Jaida Parker, who checked on Fatu, only to completely shift her attitude, declaring “ain’t nobody safe” as it became apparent she was the newest member of The 946, exiting with Royce Keys, who delivered a mocking “all gas, no brakes” to the fallen Bloodline member.

Why it all worked?

It was largely unexpected. There was no indication during the earlier interaction that Jaida Parker was there for anything other than a meeting with the Raw general manager. Sure, she was in a grey vehicle, but not as the driver, and it was entirely conceivable that it was just a hire car deployed to bring her to the venue.

Leaving in a different car was an interesting move, and it’d be fun to see who that car actually belonged to, assuming Parker acquired it by nefarious means. Watching her concern after hitting Fatu was also well executed, with her turnaround well delivered, too. Seeing her go from remorseful to ice-cold bodes well for her future as a member of The 946.

Sure, she had been a member of OTM in NXT, joining forces with Price and Nima, but that was back in 2024, with more recent outings being untelevised house shows, facing The Vanity Project, a faction that is very much on the heel side of things.

A well-executed twist that left no doubt as to what had happened; the only question to answer is, perhaps: why?
