Hello and welcome once again to my top ‘WWE Matches of the Week’. Here, as always, I check out all the bouts from the past seven days of WWE TV and cherry pick the very best for you. This week there were no pay-per-views to hide behind so the main shows best have brought their A-game… erm… we’ll see.
A quick reminder that this only focuses on Raw, SmackDown Live, 205 Live and NXT. After all, we all know that Main Event does not exist. Luckily there was at least one great match on each show so without further ado, let’s get cracking!

Raw
Finn Bálor & Seth Rollins vs. Dolph Ziggler & Drew McIntyre
Look at what Raw‘s main event scene could look like. By all accounts it basically is but we all know – no matter how much we try to forget – that Brock Lesnar is the Universal Champion and Roman Reigns is THE guy.
This match simply furthers the notion that a change needs to be made on the red brand because, despite lucrative deals that make Vince and company lazy, the talent is there and ready to carry the company to the next level.
The bout itself was spawned out of a singles competition which I personally hate but will let slide. It was fast-paced, intense, and really put over everyone as true main-eventers… shame about Ziggler – the “storyline” best in the ring considering he is the current IC Champion – eating the pinfall.
SmackDown Live
Andrade ‘Cien’ Almas vs. Rusev
Guys, it happened again! Where are these matches coming from? It’s like WWE Creative actually heard their audience cry out “what the hell are you doing with Almas?!” and thought “well we better start giving him real opponents and a legitimate push.” It’s about time people!
Aside from this being a stellar outing from both men, it was also a handy red herring for the AJ Styles vs. Samoa Joe storyline that we all saw coming. Nice to know they thought about it a little though.
Rusev looked strong going in and out of this match despite the loss and Almas simply continues to look better and better with each passing week. His unique moveset is getting over with the mainstream crowd and, if the reports are to be believed, that rocket on his back is about to look mighty fine.
