Every WWE Money In The Bank Cash-In Ranked

8. Daniel Bryan – TLC 2011

Daniel Bryan’s cash-in was one of the first moments where he really arrived in WWE. He had been in possession of the briefcase for five months and WWE had been building anticipation for his cash-in for the month leading up to the TLC pay per view. The actually act of cashing-in was nothing special as Big Show had been DDT’ed on some chairs and Bryan just pinned him without hitting a move, but the reaction was special.

This was the pay per view of giving the hardcore fans what they wanted. CM Punk was WWE Champion, Zack Ryder won the United Stated title, and Bryan had become the World Heavyweight Championship. Bryan had a great celebration, rubbing the title in Michael Cole’s face and celebrating with the crowd.

7. Randy Orton – SummerSlam 2013

Oh how the tables have turned, Daniel. Now it was his turn to be cashed-in on. Bryan had just been through a main event match with John Cena where he managed to capture his first WWE Championship. This is when Mr. Money in the Bank Randy Orton made his entrance. Triple H had been the referee for the main event and he then turned heel and Pedigreed Bryan, allowing Orton to cash-in.

The crowd was white-hot for all of this and they saw the formation of the Authority. The only problem with this was that Orton didn’t hit a move to do it, with the attention instead being put on the semi-active Triple H. Had Bryan kicked out of the Pedigree, fired up against both men and been quickly RKO’ed I think this would have been even better.

6. Edge – SmackDown (May 8, 2007)

Edge was the man who made Money in the Bank a success. His first cash-in was slightly better but this was still a classic moment. Edge was the perfect Mr. Money in the Bank. He was conniving and devious, ensuring he only cashed-in his contract at the most opportune moment.

That came on SmackDown on May 8, 2007. World Champion The Undertaker had just wrestled a brutal Steel Cage match with Batista to a draw. After being handed the title, Undertaker was decimated by Mark Henry. After the prolonged beating, Edge made his entrance. He Speared Undertaker and captured his first World Heavyweight Championship. The moment was done exceptionally well and featured good commentary from JBL and Michael Cole who elevated the moment further.

5. CM Punk – Extreme Rules 2009

We talked about CM Punk getting another chance at being Mr. Money in the Bank. In 2009, he got that chance and it was much better. His run with the briefcase was slightly better as he was allowed to beat Umaga earlier in the show, but it was the cash-in and reign that was far superior.

Jeff Hardy had finally captured the World Heavyweight Championship by beating Edge in a Ladder Match when CM Punk’s music blared through the arena speakers. The crowd was shocked as the babyface Punk stole the title from their favourite, Hardy. What was great was Punk’s reasoning. He said everyone cheered when he cashed in on Edge the prior year but they now booed him because it was Hardy.

It was a perfect heel turn and Punk had the best feud of 2009 with Hardy out of it.

4. Dean Ambrose – Money in the Bank 2016

The crowd was solidly behind Dean Ambrose in 2016. It was clear that they saw more in him than management did which is why it was so gratifying when he won the Money in the Bank match. If you watched the opening promo package for the event it may have been a bit predictable what was going to happen by it was still a great moment.

Seth Rollins had returned as a heel and battled Roman Reigns for the WWE Championship. Rollins managed to take the title from his former partner, only for Ambrose to swoop in and take it, completing the Shield trifecta. The crowd was hot for this as everyone wanted to finally see Ambrose take his turn at the top of the mountain.
