For Creative
Let’s be honest. The current WWE product isn’t great. While this blame doesn’t sit solely on the shoulders of one person, we need to keep in mind that somebody did sit down and make a suggestion that Drake Maverick should pee himself on live TV…
We’re led to believe that the majority of show scripts are written a day or so before the show, sometimes, even on the day. But what if they had something planned out in advance? Built each rivalry like a movie, with a start, middle, and end, perhaps? Granted, I imagine deep in the heart of Connecticut, at WWE HQ, this is already something they do. If each week was planned out like a storyboard, jotting down every minute detail, utilizing their entire roster, keeping it fresh and different, it would be a good way of keeping people engaged. Imagine what they could achieve… the stars they could build.
While scripts may be tweaked at the last minute to reflect on ‘current events’ or amend for absent wrestlers, the boys and girls can rehearse their lines prior to the show. Which would hopefully elevate the stale and sometimes obvious script delivery and give the shows back their element of realness. A great actor can make any script seem incredible. Just look at Christopher Walken.
