NXT UK Tapings – First Night SPOILERS!

In the main event of the first hour of the recording, the ‘Bruiserweight’ Pete Dunne defended his NXT United Kingdom Championship against number one contender, Noam Dar. The 205 Live star won the honor at the Royal Albert Hall, outlasting Travis Banks, Flash Morgan Webster, and Mark Andrews in a Fatal 4-Way. According to reports, this was an excellent back and forth outing with Dunne retaining after a Bitter End. Phew. Not that I’m biased or anything.

In other happenings from the first hour:

  • Ligero best James Drake in the Dark Match
  • Joe Coffey clocked Mark Andrews continuing the storyline from the Coffey’s sneak attack on the Welshman from the Albert Hall shows. Joe was accompanied by his brother Mark. Following the bout, Flash Morgan Webster made the save when the Coffey Brothers continued their assault. It would appear we have two set teams for the NXT UK doubles division.
  • Toni Storm whitewashed Nina Samuels
  • Moustache Mountain cut a promo about needing competition and wanting the NXT UK Tag Team Championships. There has been no word as of yet on when we will get the straps. Moustache Mountain are expected to challenge Undisputed Era for the NXT Tag Team Championships at NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn IV.
  • Dave Mastiff crushed Sid Scala

The biggest news coming out of the second hour was the debut of Dakota Kai in the NXT UK Women’s division. The New Zealand native defeated Killer Kelly in a match which, by all accounts, wasn’t great. Kai then stated her desire to compete for the NXT UK Women’s Championship. Adding her to the division is a great idea. She’s a wonderful talent who, right now, doesn’t really have a place in the regular NXT. She can do more good here.

Things aren’t looking great for WXW regular Killer Kelly, however. The star has been booked to lose all three of her NXT UK matches thus far and none of them have been brilliant. WWE would be fools to waste this star. We’ll have to wait and see what they do with her across the following recordings.

In other happenings from the second hour:

  • Kenny Williams cracked Joseph Conners in less than five minutes. The bout was blighted by an injury to the latter after a kick the head caused Joseph to be legitimately knocked out.
  • Ashton Smith went over Tucker
  • Zack Gibson cut a promo which lead to a confrontation with Noam Dar and NXT UK General Manager Johnny Saint. This would lead to the main event of hour three.
