AEW star Jay Lethal has been added to the Lucha Libre AAA Mega Championship match at TripleMania Regia.

It had previously been announced that Hijo del Vikingo would do battle with Samuray Del Sol (FKA Kalisto in WWE) on December 4. AAA has now taken to Twitter to reveal that Lethal will also fight for the vacant title next month, stating:

The next challenger for the AAA Mega Championship is:

@TheLethalJay from @AEW arrives in #LuchaLibreAAA at #TriplemaníaRegia to face (Hijo Del Vikingo) and (Samuray Del Sol).

AEW’s Kenny Omega was forced to relinquish the AAA Mega Title as he’s set to undergo multiple surgeries. Omega’s reign with the gold lasted 765 days, the longest single reign in the championship’s 14 year history.

AEW has worked with AAA since the US promotion’s inception, with the AAA Tag Team Championship recently changing hands live on Dynamite.

AEW also reportedly played a role in plans changing for the finish of Kenny Omega vs Andrade El Idolo at TripleMania in August.
