AEW Star Pitches Segment With Adam Copeland (Edge)

A current AEW champion has shared a pitch for a segment involving the company’s newest signing, WWE Hall of Famer Adam Copeland.

After debuting for the company at the conclusion of the AEW WrestleDream pay-per-view, the former ‘Edge’ will make his first Dynamite appearance on this week’s (October 4) show.

Following this, Copeland’s announced plans in AEW involve an appearance on Saturday’s Collision and an in-ring debut against Luchasaurus on the ‘Title Tuesday’ edition of Dynamite on October 10.

While that spells out Copeland’s initial plans, one AEW star may have an idea for something very different for the Rated R Superstar at some point in the future.

Speaking to Baby Huey of the In the Kliq podcast, AEW Trios Champion Anthony Bowens gave his thoughts on Copeland’s arrival in the company as well as pitching two throwback style segments involving the 49-year-old in the future.

Wanting to combine Copeland’s five second pose with his scissor gimmick, Bowens said:

“I’m excited, man. You can see the energy that guy brings and you see how excited the fans were, the company, and everybody out there is just as excited.

“Hopefully, we get opportunities to make some memories with Adam in the ring. You know, a ‘5-second scissor,’ a ‘live scissors celebration,’ there’s so many things we can do with him.

“Of course, I’d love to get into the ring and square up with him one day. So I’m very excited to have Adam, and I can’t wait to see what all unfolds.”

While Bowen’s plans may materialise at some point, Copeland said in the post AEW WrestleDream media scrum that he intends to give his “mission statement” on this week’s Dynamite.

While it’s unclear what this will entail exactly, it seems inevitable that he may get to turn back the clock in the ring with TNT Champion Christian Cage in the near future, of whom he confronted at the end of WrestleDream.
