Tony Khan Disagrees With Former WWE Star About Will Ospreay AEW/WWE

Tony Khan has defended Will Ospreay after criticism that the AEW star was “indie-rific” according to WWE Hall of Famer Kevin Nash.

Nash made the comments on his Kliq This podcast after Ospreay had taken issue with Triple H comments about “the grind” and addressed the WWE executive in a promo on the April 11 episode of AEW Dynamite.

Responding to Ospreay’s words towards Triple H, Nash had said:

“I don’t know. I mean, it ain’t like somebody’s throwing a 100-mile-an-hour fastball. It’s a work, everything’s a work.

“Is there a place for him in this f*cking business, for Will? Absolutely….I just think that Paul didn’t mention him by name. Therefore, there’s no reason to get ass-hurt.

“It shows he’s an indie-rific guy. It shows why he didn’t make the move. He’s just not smart to the business. Jade [Cargill] was.”

Triple H had made the comments about choosing a job where “they work less, the schedule’s lighter” in the run-up to WrestleMania 40.

Tony Khan has now addressed Nash’s comments during an appearance on Z100 with Josh Martinez, saying:

“Well, I think Kevin Nash was a great wrestler and his opinions on wrestling I’m not sure I agree with them.

“He’s had some takes on Will Ospreay I definitely don’t agree with and I’d be remiss if I didn’t bring that up.

“I think Will Ospreay is one of the best wrestlers in the world. We’re really fortunate to have Will Ospreay in AEW. He’s been coming in week in and week out and working so hard, having great matches since he debuted.

“Both pay-per-views he’s been on, he’s been in these classic matches against Takeshita at AEW Revolution and against Bryan Danielson just over a week ago at AEW Dynasty. I think Will Ospreay is so phenomenal.

“I’ve heard criticisms from Kevin that I don’t necessarily agree with about Will. So some of his opinions about current wrestling I just don’t agree with. But I wish him the best and all the respect in the world to him.”

Will Ospreay revealed that there had been talks with WWE but he chose to sign with AEW as it would allow him to stay in the UK with his family.

With regards to WWE, also noted the benefits of working for AEW, saying “it was night and day” and that “it was always, you can go be a superstar in WWE and famous, but it’s not as good of pay and it’s not as kind of a schedule.”
