An AEW star recently discussed her two dream opponents outside of AEW, citing WWE’s Charlotte Flair as “one of the best that’s ever done it”.
Speaking to Mark Andrews on the My Love Letter to Wrestling podcast, Britt Baker named 15-time women’s champion Charlotte Flair and IMPACT Knockout’s Champion Deonna Purrazzo as her two ideal ‘Forbidden Door’ match-ups.
Baker explained:
“One of my best friends in the whole world is Deonna Purrazzo. Crossing a forbidden door that is definitely someone I would kill to have a match with, let alone at Wembley.
“Then let’s go to the other forbidden door, the other way. I always say I would love to have a match with Charlotte Flair.
“I think she’s one of the best that’s ever done it, and people, no matter what you say about her, she’s always proving people wrong.
“I think she is very admirable. Her attitude, her poise, it’s everything about her I looked up to.”
While Charlotte Flair is currently chasing Asuka for yet another world title, Purrazzo is currently holding the top female prize in IMPACT.
However, that may change on Saturday July 15 as the 29-year-old defends her title against former WWE star Trinity Fatu (Naomi) at Slammiversary.
The match has been gathering a lot of steam on social media lately, with fans calling for Trinity and Purrazzo to close the show using the hashtag #knockoutsmainevent.
This has led IMPACT to announce that Purrazzo and Trinity will ‘share’ the main event spot with the IMPACT World Championship match between Alex Shelley and Nick Aldis.
It remains to be seen whether fans will get their wish, but the match marks a significant night for Trinity, who could capture her first title since leaving WWE.
The two-time WWE Women’s Champion addressed her controversial exit from the company in a new interview, revealing the WWE stars who supported her and Mercedes Mone (Sasha Banks) during their trying year in 2022 – click here to read more.
