Ex-AEW Star Jokes About Fighting CM Punk On One Condition

Former AEW star Joey Janela has joked about facing off against CM Punk, amid speculation about the popular star’s potential return.

Between reports about an upcoming meeting involving CM Punk and other AEW stars, and Dax Harwood stating that Punk misses wrestling, it is believed that the former AEW World Champion will make his in-ring comeback soon.

Joey Janela has now referenced these rumors, providing his criteria for a match with Punk to be made.

Wanting Punk to host a movie marathon, Janela tweeted:

Ok guys here it is I’ll work with CM Punk, only on one condition he watches every Rocky movie in a row and live streams it like Shia LaBeouf watching his own films…

And yes, Janela clarified that he’s counting the Creed movies.

CM Punk having not watched the Rocky movies became a meme after Punk’s recent Instagram post, in which he called out several AEW names.

In the post, Punk stated that he hadn’t watched any of the series after revealing that Jon Moxley pitched for Punk to lose to him quickly ahead of All Out 2022, inspired by Rocky III.

Janela was won of the first signees to AEW upon the company starting 2019, but left when his contract expired in 2022.
