AEW Star Leaves The Company, Contract Has Expired

An update has emerged on the AEW status of Brian Pillman Jr who was removed from the roster page on the company’s official website today.

Pillman hasn’t wrestled for AEW since May, not on Rampage since February, and not on Dynamite since way back in August almost a whole year ago.

PWInsider is now reporting that Pillman’s AEW contract has expired and he’s officially departed the company.

This is the latest in a recent list of AEW contract expiries that has also included Trench of the Mogul Affiliates, as well as Fuego Del Sol.

Pillman was best known in AEW as a member of the Varsity Blonds alongside Griff Garrison, but had been teaming more with Brock Anderson in the later stages of his time with the company as Garrison had been out injured.

Pillman did get a brief singles run on TV including a big match against MJF at Dynamite Grand Slam in New York in September 2021, but that was to build up MJF and Pillman was never pushed beyond that.

He’s yet to outright comment on his departure but did post a photo on Instagram a few hours ago with the caption “Stay tuned for the next chapter… #takearideonthewildside”.
