Brian Pillman Jr. ‘Definitely Wasn’t Happy’ About Creative, Suggests Varsity Blonds Are Over AEW

Brian Pillman Jr. opens up about the recent creative decision that he felt “stopped us from seeing the true potential,” of the Varsity Blonds.

Brian Pillman Jr. was recently chatting to Rene Dupre on his podcast, Cafe de Rene about his time with AEW and opened up about one creative move he wasn’t thrilled about.

While they had already struggled to get time on TV, after Julia Hart succumbed to her dark side and joined House of Black, Varsity Blonds have fallen out of the spotlight a bit.

Brian Pillman Jr. is opening up about how the creative decision felt at the time as well as where he’s going from here.

Pillman Jr. saying of the decision to remove Hart from the group:

“As soon as we lost [Julia Hart], we lost our edge and our spark that made us a good babyface group that could’ve gotten over. […] But somebody came in and decided she would be better with [House of Black]. That’s just how it goes. I definitely wasn’t happy with it to be quite honest. It is what it is. It’s business. I thought probably what really stopped us from seeing the true potential of the Varsity Blonds was that we lost her before we really got going…”

Going on to discuss what the future might hold next for himself and his other Varsity Blonds mate, Griff Garrison, the second generation star Pillman isn’t entirely sure.

Trying to maintain a positive attitude, Brian Pillman Jr. said:

“To have that taken apart was kinda rough for me at that point in my career. But I’m very happy with how it turned out. Really happy with the moment that she had at the pay-per-view Very happy with being at AEW in general. I don’t think that the Varsity Blondes was the fullest creative extension of myself. […] But I think people will look back on the Varsity Blondes quite fondly actually. Who knows what’s next for us?”

Brian Pillman Jr. is currently 8-8-0 in AEW during 2022.
