AEW Dynamite Tops NXT In December 2 Viewership

This week’s episode of AEW Dynamite was perhaps the biggest in the history of the show. While the first episode and various other specials were big events, this match clearly had the most monumental main event. Clearly, it was a show people wanted to see.

Bryan Alvarez posted the numbers for the viewership of this week’s NXT and AEW Dynamite shows. While last week was as close as they come, this week was far from close.

Dynamite and NXT both garnered 712,000 average viewers last week. This week, Dynamite gained 201,000 viewers bringing their total to 913,000 average viewers. Meanwhile, NXT dropped to 658,000 average viewers, 54,000 less than last week.

AEW Dynamite featured a massive main event of Jon Moxley vs. Kenny Omega for the AEW World Championship. Omega was able to capture the title becoming just the third champion in the title’s history. He did it with the help of Don Callis, who announced Omega would appear Tuesday on Impact Wrestling.

The show also featured the debut of Sting who confronted Cody Rhodes and Darby Allin after their match with Ricky Starks and Powerhouse Hobbs.

On NXT, they had their go-home show for NXT TakeOver WarGames. Shotzi Blackheart managed to win the WarGames advantage for her team, defeating Raquel Gonzalez in a Ladder match. Timothy Thatcher vs. Tommaso Ciampa was also made official for the show.
