An AEW name has provided an update on their condition following last night’s AEW Dynamite.
On the February 8 edition of Dynamite, Austin and Colten Gunn defeated The Acclaimed’s Anthony Bowens and Max Caster to win the AEW World Tag Team Championships.
During the course of the bout, referee Stephon Smith was knocked out after being struck by Bowens. This allowed The Gunns to use the title belts to their advantage to claim the victory.
Smith posted an update on Twitter about his condition following the main event encounter. He tweeted:
Undoubtedly one of the nastiest falls I’ve ever taken but I’m safe, our medical staff is top notch, and I will be okay. Thanks for everyone’s concern. #AEWDynamite
The finish to the title match was met with immediate criticism from the El Paso, Texas fans in attendance who rained down “bullsh**” chants following the outcome.
The Gunns are only tenth duo to win the AEW World Tag Team Champions in the company’s history.
