Claudio Castagnoli issued an open challenge for his ROH World Championship on AEW Rampage and it was answered by a surprising opponent.
AEW Rampage kicked off with an open challenge from a current champion setting up a title shot for next week’s AEW Rampage (August 26.)
Claudio Castagnoli came the ring alongside fellow Blackpool Combat Club member and fellow ROH titleholder, the ROH Pure Champion Wheeler Yuta.
Claudio said in a promo that he wanted to be a fighting champion and issued an open challenge for his ROH World Championship.
Dustin Rhodes came out, referencing his 34 years dreaming of holding the World Heavyweight Championship and promised to bring his best to the bout.
Claudio Castagnoli and Dustin Rhodes shook hands to end the segment in a respectful, ROH fashion.
Dustin Rhodes is 1-3-0 thus far in All Elite Wrestling in 2022.
