AEW Star Recalls Thinking He ‘Killed’ Sting In A Match AEW

AEW star and former three-time TNT Champion Sammy Guevara has recalled thinking he “killed” Sting in a match.

At AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door 2023, Sting, Darby Allin and Tetsuya Naito defeated Chris Jericho, Sammy Guevara and Minoru Suzuki in a trios match.

During the course of the bout, Guevara delivered a 630 Splash off the top rope to Sting through a table at ringside.

Appearing on Insight with Chris Van Vliet, Sammy Guevara discussed that spot and feeling confused or a bit scared that he had hurt “The Stinger.” He said:

“So, story about that. He was supposed to move. But for whatever reason, either the 630 is too fast or timing, whatever, I landed off. And I remember going through the table, and I feel his body on my back.”

“And I’m thinking, Oh, I just killed Sting. Oh, no, and like I land, kind of roll off that look at him. And then he pops up like a minute later, you know? And like, finishes the match, because he’s such a pro.”

“But I remember for a minute, I was like, oh no. He took complete total blame for it. He was like, Oh, I’m sorry, I didn’t move, whatever. I’m just happy he’s okay.”

“He’s like, Sorry, I no sold your move. And I’m like, bro, you’re good. You know, like, I’m just happy you’re alive,”

Fans will see if Sting and Sammy Guevara will be able to put any lingering animosity following this spot at AEW Worlds End.

At the event, Sting, Darby Allin, Sammy Guevara and Chris Jericho will face Powerhouse Hobbs, Konosuke Takeshita and AEW World Tag Team Champions Ricky Starks & Big Bill.
