There was some major news coming out of tonight (December 28) as AEW stars were stripped of a championship.
With news coming out of the Lucha Libre AAA show, that a top star has signed with WWE, there was another bit of breaking news from the evening.
At tonight’s (December 28) AAA Noche de Campeones event, it was announced that Sammy Guevara and Tay Melo would be stripped of their AAA Mixed Tag Championships.
While the duo were originally scheduled to defend the belts against the teams of Lady Shani & Octagon Jr and Komander & Sexy Star II, they were instead absent and replaced by Flammer & Abismo Negro Jr.
With Head of Talent relations for AAA Konan making an announcement regarding the change:
“Sammy & Tay have canceled three times, not twice. They wanted their own referee & Tay wanted her own stylist, so I have made a decision.
There were three orders of business:
Number One, The titles have now been vacated.
Number Two: I have already sent someone to the United States to get the titles.
And Number Three: Whoever wins this Triple Threat Mix Tag Match will become the new AAA Mixed Tag Champions.”
The match went on to be won by Flammer & Abismo Negro Jr.
