A WWE Hall of Famer has condemned the idea of Tony Khan as Wrestling Observer’s Booker of the Year and made his contempt very clear.
Tony Khan was given Best Booker and Promoter of the Year in Dave Meltzer’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter’s annual award announcement.
This didn’t sit well with Eric Bischoff, who addressed the issue he has with the decision on 83 Weeks, saying:
“To suggest that Tony Khan was Booker of the Year, Promoter of the Year when his company damn near imploded last year as a result of the piss poor decisions, immature decisions, and nonsensical decisions that Tony Khan has made last year, is a joke.”
He wouldn’t just take Khan to task either, with Dave Meltzer also coming under fire:
“I gotta tell you, he’s a liar, he’s a fraud, he’s a weak-minded person, and he’s been doing it for years.
“Some people are just seeing it now because things have changed now. We have this thing called podcasts.”
Bischoff has voiced his opinion of Meltzer’s reporting in the past and stated that he, Bruce Prichard and Booker T are able to use their platforms to correct reports that Meltzer has made in the past, as well as challenge what he says now.
He would also refer to Meltzer as a “disease” for the way in which the wrestling industry is currently covered.
Bischoff has been forthright in criticizing Tony Khan and AEW in the past, including suggesting that the company has a lack of storytelling,
