Another Emotional Promo From Lacey Evans On SmackDown

Another Emotional Promo From Lacey Evans On SmackDown WWE

Tonight’s episode of Smackdown (April 15) saw another chapter in the origin story of Lacey Evans as she introduces fans to her new character.

Seemingly true to life, Evans earnestly and emotionally describes her childhood including her abusive Father who struggled with addiction, mental health issues, and her transient lifestyle due to his evasion of assault charges.

Evans made a note to repeat similar language from the end of her promo from last week, reminding fans:

“Because of what I’ve been through my entire life, it’s made me a motivated, ready for anything, confident, caring and careful daughter, mother, wife, sister, United States Marine and WWE superstar. Now that doesn’t make me better than any of these other female WWE superstars, but they’re damn sure no better than me.”

The promo was a continuation of the story from the previous week in which Evans discussed her difficult childhood in which her Father’s issues initially led her Mother to flee the dysfunctional dynamic which ultimately left the family experiencing homelessness.

The continued change in character marks a shift from her previous presentation as a heelish, sassy, Southern belle who frequently insulted both her opponents and the crowd.

This more humble and real-to-life iteration of Lacey Evans’ character comes on the heels of over a year away from competition as she was pregnant and then recovering from having given birth to a baby daughter in December.
