Backstage News On NXT COVID-19 Testing

According to Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp, as a result of the positive COVID-19 tests, many NXT stars needed to be re-tested after being exposed to someone who tested positive. However, according to Fightful’s sources, these wrestlers tests came back negative.

Unfortunately, there is still concern over a couple of gatherings wrestlers had. Because the numbers are so high, there is a concern there could have been unintentional contamination.

The rumor is that the exposure and positive tests are across all kinds of departments and divisions. Strangely, the report also states that for some reason there were still some who weren’t required to get tested.

One thing that could potentially happen is WWE could be set for another round of positive tests. WWE asked all NXT personnel to come in for mandatory drive-through tests at the PC on Thursday. The message was sent at 9 am and required them to be there by 10:30 am.

Here is the message they were sent:

“Per Vince, ALL Talent are needed for TV on Friday & Saturday. Please go to PC by 10:30 AM TODAY for drive-through COVID testing. if you took test yesterday, you don’t need to today. If you are in high level storyline, you will be off camera. Thanks. **IMPORTANT: after test, you will need to remain ISOLATED AND QUARANTINED until after the TV tapings.”

Based on the late notice, many missed the testing window and were set to be retested later in the day. The report also states many NXT talents were planning on skipping the tapings because of the positive tests. However, they were strongly encouraged to come in, even if they expressed they didn’t feel comfortable.

With all the stories of negative things going on in wrestling, forcing wrestlers to come in when they aren’t comfortable and potentially endangering their health seems to send the wrong message.
