WWE WrestleMania 40 Live Gate Sees Major Increase From Previous Two Years

A new report has revealed that this year’s WWE WrestleMania 40 events saw a major increase from the previous two years.

At WWE WrestleMania 40 Night Two, Cody Rhodes defeated Roman Reigns to finally finish his story, end Roman’s 1316 day reign and win the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship.

Following the event, the company touted the shows as the “biggest WrestleMania of all time.” The numbers support that as this year’s Mania 40 was the most successful and largest gate the event has ever done.

According to a financial analysis report from JohnWallStreet, this year’s gate receipts for WrestleMania 40 are at $38.5 million over two nights at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

The report notes that the figures represent a seventy-eight percent increase over WrestleMania 39 at SoFi Stadium in 2023. This is also a one-hundred-and-forty-seven percent growth from WrestleMania 38 at AT&T Stadium in 2022.

On the factors that led to this massive financial increase for the shows, the report reads:

“The positive macro results can be attributed to a series of successful micro transactions (think: the returns of Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson and CM Punk, Paul Levesque taking over as chief creative officer), and coherent long-term storytelling.”

“Cody Rhodes’ match against Roman Reigns was the culmination of a multi-year story line. The Rock wrestled alongside Reigns in another extended chronicle.”

Given the percentages and principal figure generated for this year’s events, Brandon Thurston of Wrestlenomics noted that it reflects a gate of $15.6 million in live ticket sales for WrestleMania 38 in 2022 and $21.6 million for WrestleMania 39 last year.
