While speaking with Inside The Ropes, former NXT UK Women’s Champion Toni Storm has revealed the original plans for her NXT debut last year, noting that she was supposed to arrive on the black and gold brand sooner than she did.
For those that don’t know, Toni Storm appeared during the NXT TakeOver 31 show at the beginning of October and has been appearing on NXT TV ever since, but has revealed that her debut was actually delayed by COVID-19:
Yeah, I think I was meant to be there quite a few months sooner, but obviously I got stuck and obviously the UK… It’s still in a terrible state now, pandemic wise, but it was terrible back then so we didn’t know what was happening with NXT UK either. I was just kind of in between, like, ‘ I don’t know.’ I was living each day not knowing what was going to happen, when I was going to leave, so it was crazy time. But yeah, it took me until October.
This weekend at NXT TakeOver: Vengeance Day, Toni Storm will challenge Mercedes Martinez and Io Shirai for the latter’s NXT Women’s Championship in what has the makings of a fantastic triple threat match.
