Bizarre Reason Aleister Black Can Appear In AEW Already

The former Aleister Black debuted on last night’s AEW Dynamite just a month after his WWE release, and we now know why he could do that.

The standard practice in WWE is that talents under NXT contracts have a 30-day non-compete clause, while those on main roster deals have 90-day non-competes.

According to a report from PWInsider, WWE actually forgot to update the 30-day clause to a 90-day clause in Black’s contract when he was moved to the main roster.

Black was released on June 2, so that 30 days had elapsed and allowed him to appear on AEW’s first show back on the road in Miami last night.

He debuted under the new name Malakai Black and laid out both Arn Anderson and Cody Rhodes with Black Mass spin kicks.

This situation does beg the question as to whether there’s anyone else’s non-compete clauses that WWE forgot to update, but there’s no-one known as of yet.
