Former WWE Name Shoots Down The Rock WrestleMania 39 Report WWE

Brian Gewirtz has now made an interesting comment about a previous report regarding Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson’s status for WrestleMania 39.

It was reported last year that WWE had plans to have Roman Reigns vs The Rock headline this year’s Show of Shows, as long as the Great One’s schedule allowed for him to train for an in-ring return.

Dave Meltzer later reported that The Rock wouldn’t be facing Reigns at WrestleMania because he didn’t feel he had enough time to get in ring-shape.

Speaking on the Bill Simmons podcast, Brian Gewirtz, a former WWE writer who is friends with The Rock, claimed that he knows that this is not the real reason why The Rock won’t be appearing at the event.

Indicating that the Hollywood star may still show up at WrestleMania, Gewirtz said:

“A source tells him (Meltzer), ‘The Rock is not going to make it to WrestleMania because he feels he doesn’t have time to get into match shape.’ I know that it is not the case.

“That is not the reason, whether it happens or doesn’t happen, I know it’s a line.

“Then, it just took a life of it’s own where, all of a sudden, everyone reading it on the internet and Twitter takes it as fact, to the point where Roman goes on the Tonight Show and tells Jimmy Fallon, ‘I understand Rock made a statement and doesn’t have time to get into ring shape.’

“I’m watching this like, ‘What? What statement? Show me the statement. There is no statement.’

“This is a quote that some stooge reported to a wrestling insider newsletter and now it’s written in granite and stone.

“That’s the stuff that drives me nuts.”

Brian Gewirtz notably works for The Rock’s Seven Bucks Productions company as the SVP of Development.

Cody Rhodes is now slated to challenge for Roman Reigns’ WWE Undisputed Universal Championship at WrestleMania 39.
