The Rock’s Success Down To WWE Star Being Injured Claims Hall Of Famer WWE

WWE Hall of Famer Kevin Nash has claimed that The Rock’s success came because others were injured in recent expletive-laden comments.

The Rock has recently finished his latest run in WWE, but teased a return plan that would feature Cody Rhodes.

Kevin Nash looked back at the success of The Rock in the late 1990s, focusing on SummerSlam 1997 and the Tombstone Piledriver that would injure Stone Cold Steve Austin.

Speaking on the Kliq This podcast, Nash looked back at the rise of The Rock, saying:

“If Steve doesn’t get hurt, I don’t think Rock hits the f**king heights that he does.

“Like everything happens for a reason, because, basically, I mean, not to be a d**k, but Rock has came out and said that when he sees something that gets over, he takes it.

“When Steve went down with the neck injury, f**king Dwayne took a lot of f**king Steve’s s**t and incorporated it into what he did. And lo and behold, Steve comes back.”

The August 3 1997 would see Austin unable to compete until Survivor Series in November of that year.

August 1997 would also see the heel turn of The Rock, abandoning his “Rocky Maivia” name the one he still uses to this day along with many of the character traits that have continued throughout his wrestling career.

The Rock and Steve Austin would cross paths many times over their careers, with D-Generation X: In Your House in December 1997 seeing Austin retain the WWE Intercontinental Championship entering into a feud into the next year.
