After defeating Kofi Kingston to win the WWE Championship on Friday Night Smackdown’s debut on FOX, Brock Lesnar was attacked by former UFC Champion Cain Velasquez.
It was then reported that a match between Lesnar and Velasquez would take place later this month in Saudi Arabia at WWE Crown Jewel. However, nothing has been confirmed yet by WWE.
Dave Meltzer has stated on the latest Wrestling Observer Radio that the match between the two former UFC stars is “as official as official can be.”
Meltzer also notes that the match will be for Lesnar’s WWE Championship.
WWE is unlikely to book Velasquez, a legitimate fighter, to lose his first match in a WWE ring. Therefore, some have speculated that Cain might be walking out of Saudi Arabia with the WWE Championship.
This would mean that Cain’s first WWE match and the third professional wrestling match of his career could see him pick up arguably the most coveted prize in wrestling.
