Cassie Lee of The IInspiration, fka Peyton Royce of the The IIconics, has confirmed that she requested an NXT move before her WWE release.
Speaking with Shakiel Mahjouri of Cageside Seats, Lee revealed that a transfer back to the (formerly) Gold Brand was being ‘looked into’ before her WWE departure.
Discussing her requested move, Lee noted:
“I actually asked to go back (to NXT), and it was kind of, you know — it was being looked into is what I was told and then I got released.”
Lee had previously revealed that Rhea Ripley convinced her not to ask for her WWE release while she was still with the company. Ultimately, Lee was let go by WWE in April.
Lee and Jessie McKay (fka Billie Kay) made their first post-WWE appearance on October 2 for Legends of the Ring. You can check out the rest of The IInspiration’s tour dates here.
