CM Punk has sent a message to AEW’s Sting ahead of the Icon’s retirement match at AEW Revolution in Greensboro tonight.
Sting is set to bring an end to his legendary career tonight, when he defends the AEW World Tag Team Championship alongside Darby Allin against the Young Bucks Matthew and Nicholas Jackson.
Sting has competed alongside many of the iconic names in wrestling history during his 40 year career, including teaming up with CM Punk in AEW to take on MJF and FTR back at AEW Holiday Bash in 2021.
During the match, the trio wore matching facepaint similar to that worn by Sting, but also featuring Punk’s logo, in one of the most iconic trios in AEW’s short history.
Taking to his Instagram story today, where he sent a message of respect to Sting ahead of his match against the Young Bucks.
Punk shared a photo of him and Sting from the match, and the words “respect. grateful.”
Punk is currently out of action with a triceps injury suffered during the 2024 Royal Rumble match.
