During a recent Twitter Q&A, the outspoken former WWE star CM Punk has revealed that he’d be open to returning to the WWE video game series, despite the fact he isn’t with the company right now.
CM Punk did explain that because of who he is and the manner in which he left WWE, the likelihood of him being involved in the game is pretty slim:
“Yeah but since it’s me, won’t happen.”

The last WWE video game that CM Punk featured in was the WWE 2K15 game which was released in October 2014, over ten months after his last match for the promotion in January 2014.
We have seen non-contracted WWE talent such as Sting and Goldberg appear in WWE video games before, with both of those instances actually leading to the former WCW stars subsequently returning, or in the case of Sting, debuting for WWE.
As the incredibly negative reaction to WWE 2K20, the franchise opted to not release a new game last year, and have likely been working on WWE 2k22 since the release of the last game in late 2019.
