Cody Rhodes Allowed To Break Major WWE Rule

Cody Rhodes Allowed To Break Major WWE Rule WWE

A backstage update has emerged on a WWE rule Cody Rhodes was allowed to break on Monday Night Raw.

Rhodes cut a scathing promo on The Rock during Monday’s (March 18) show, firing back at the Hollywood star.

This version of Cody Rhodes was a lot more cut throat with his promo, calling The Rock an asshole and a whiny bitch, before questioning whether the WWE legend has “little dick syndrome”.

Per Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, WWE made an exception for Cody Rhodes to go against the rule of no swearing because he needed to have an appropriate response to The Rock, who himself is an exception to that rule, despite all other talents being instructed to follow it recently.

Meltzer said:

“There was a memo. Everyone got it. But they gave Cody… they knew that he had to come back (against Rock). But there was absolutely a memo. I got that from several different guys, and there’s been other reporters who have too, so that’s not nothing.

“And no-one else is allowed to do that, but he (Cody) was given the opportunity to do it because basically they wanted him to stay babyface essentially.

“And if he came off badly on this promo and Rock came off so great in Memphis, it’s like, that’s not what they want.”

Brian Gewirtz, The Rock’s representative in WWE Creative, has now publicly criticised Cody Rhodes’ promo.
