A new social media post may have revealed confirmation on an AEW star’s apparent retirement.
On the July 22 edition of AEW Collision, House of Black defeated “Daddy Ass” Billy Gunn and The Acclaimed to retain the AEW World Trios Championships.
This was the highly anticipated rematch for Max Caster, Anthony Bowens and Billy Gunn after coming up short against Malakai Black, Buddy Matthews and Brody King at AEW Double Or Nothing in May.
Following their loss on Collision, Gunn tearfully removed his wrestling boots and left them in the middle of the ring, leaving The Acclaimed confused on what’s next for “Daddy Ass.”
On July 25, Billy Gunn’s wife Paula Sopp took to Twitter to post a photo of the WWE Hall of Famer and noted that he is enjoying retirement. She tweeted:
This is what retirement looks like @RealBillyGunn
It remains to be seen how AEW or The Acclaimed will respond to the apparent retirement of Gunn, but WrestleTalk will keep readers updated on his status when it becomes available.
