WWE star Finn Balor has opened up about his guilt surrounding being away from home, sharing his honest thoughts on his future.
Finn Balor wrestled all over the world ahead of arriving on WWE NXT in 2014, and the main roster in 2016.
Speaking with Stephanie McMahon on her What’s The Story? podcast, Finn Balor stated that he has felt more guilty about living away from his family in Ireland the longer his career has went on.
Balor said:
“I’ve had that guilt for a long time. I’ve been thinking about this recently, and the guilt has been getting more prominent the longer my career has gone. I think, earlier in my career when you’re chasing the dream and you’re trying to be successful, and you’re trying to make money to get yourself comfortable…
“I’m sacrificing time with my family to follow my dream and achieve these targets that I’ve set myself. I’ve achieved more than I ever could’ve imagined in this business, and I’ve reached all these targets and goals.”

Balor went on to state that he truly felt like he reached the top of the mountain with his Universal Championship win at SummerSlam 2026, even though he was forced to relinquish the gold due to a shoulder injury soon after.
The inaugural Universal Champion continued:
“I got to the top. Once I got there, then I became financially comfortable through the company, that’s where I started to question, why am I doing this now? I’m away from all of the people that I love.
“My family are at home in Ireland, I’m here in America, wrestling. Before it was a trade-off of, you’re not with your family, but you’re following your dream. Now I’m not with my family, but I have my dream, I don’t need anything else here.
“I don’t need any more money, I don’t need any more success, I don’t need any more attention, so why am I doing it?”

When Stephanie McMahon asked why is he still doing it, Balor responded:
“I don’t know. I’m driven to be in the ring and perform at the highest level every time I get in there. I want to be in there, but I still don’t know, is that worth not being with family?
“I know there’s going to be a point in my life where I’m definitely going to regret it, but I also know my family would be upset with me if I gave up this to be with them. They’d be like ‘What are you doing here? You should be wrestling while you can.'”

While Finn Balor appears to be satisfied with his one-day Universal Title reign, many fans would love to see him hold and defend another world championship before he ultimately finishes up with WWE.
Whether that happens or not, Balor has had an extremely successful career which he can look back on fondly, regardless of how much longer it lasts.
