Former AEW Star Says CM Punk Was Very Kind WWE

Former AEW star Sonny Kiss says former three-time AEW World Champion CM Punk was very kind to him during his time in the company.

On September 2, AEW announced the termination of CM Punk’s contract “with cause” following his backstage altercation with Jack Perry. This ended a tumultuous two-year stint for Punk in the promotion following his return to wrestling in 2021.

More than two months after his firing, Punk made his return to WWE for the first time in nine years to close WWE Survivor Series 2023.

In an exclusive interview with Steve Fall of Wrestling News, former AEW star Sonny Kiss was asked about working with CM Punk in All Elite Wrestling. She answered:

“I haven’t been asked on camera ever about CM Punk or even just to the situation that happened in AEW, but I want to say Phil has always been super, super nice to me, as all the EVPs at AEW as well, and that was really, really cool to see, you know, Punk have that return.”

Kiss continued on to add that regardless of his polarizing nature, Punk is good for business, saying:

“He’s polarizing in pro wrestling, but, you know, Cody said it best. ‘What’s good for businesses, is what’s good for business, and if he’s going to elevate the company, why not?’ Like I said, he’s been nice to me.”

“The first day he came to AEW, he pulled me aside and he was just asking me questions.”

“He was just like, you know, ‘I want to be respectful of you, so how do I address you’, and things like that. He was very kind to me. I think that’s amazing for him, so good for him. That’s so cool.”

A new report has revealed what CM Punk’s first WWE feud following his Survivor Series return, which you can read here.
