While speaking with TWC Show, former WWE Superstar Summer Rae has opened up about the advantages of not using her real name while working for WWE between 2011 and 2017.
During the interview, Summer Rae (real name Danielle Moinet) said she was initially disappointed at not being able to use her birth name on TV, but thinks it’s now beneficial to her work outside of the company.
She explained:
“I would say no to a lot of things or push for a lot of things. The main thing I was super upset with is that I didn’t get to use my real name and they wanted me to use Summer. Hindsight is 20/20 because now, I’m so happy that I used Summer because when agents and producers look at it, they’re like, ‘Oh, you’re a great actress. You were playing Summer.’ The fact that it wasn’t my name, I have been up and close to a couple of reality shows since then. My stance is, in theory, I tell people I’m not open to it, but I’d love to hear them out. If someone from Netflix wants to talk to me, absolutely. Who knows what people will be producing in the future. So, I always talk to people.”
During the interview, Summer Rae revealed that she was a finalist for Real Housewives of Nashville, but didn’t actually end up being asked to be in the final cast by the producers.
