This week on Dynamite, it was announced that boxing legend Mike Tyson will be in attendance at AEW Double or Nothing to present the winner of the TNT Championship match between Cody and Lance Archer with the title.
This is a huge coup for AEW, with Tyson likely to bring over a pretty big fanbase to the pay-per-view, some who might not have considered watching Double or Nothing if he wasn’t scheduled to appear.
Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer has revealed that AEW were able to tempt Tyson into appearing on the PPV because he is a big fan of the product that AEW is putting out. Of course, there were also likely financial incentives for Mike to appear.
“[Tyson] loved it (AEW), absolutely loved it That was the impetus of having him present the belt.”
This is not the first time that AEW has brought in a big star to present a championship belt. Last year at Double or Nothing, AEW brought in two-time WWE Hall of Famer Bret Hart to unveil their World Championship.
