IYO SKY Confirms She Considered Returning To Japan Before WWE Return WWE

IYO SKY (fka Io Shirai) has confirmed that she considered returning to Japan during her wrestling absence, before her WWE main roster call-up.

SKY made her WWE return at SummerSlam, aligning herself with Bayley and Dakota Kai. The former NXT Women’s Champion had been out of action with a leg injury since April following NXT Stand & Deliver.

During her time away from the ring, it was reported that SKY was ‘pretty much gone‘ from WWE, ahead of her previous deal expiring.

Speaking on WWE After The Bell, SKY noted that she did think about returning to Japan. Opening up about living away from her family, SKY said:

“Yeah. I’ve been here four years. I came here by myself. I don’t have family here and that time is so tough. I tried to think, should I stay here more or not. I got injured and after surgery, that time was thinking about my life again,”

SKY will be in action at WWE Clash At The Castle on September 3, teaming with Bayley & Kai to face off against Asuka, Alexa Bliss and Raw Women’s Champion Bianca Belair. Sky and Kai recently advanced to the finals of the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship tournament, where they will face either Raquel Rodriguez & Aliyah, or the winner of the upcoming ‘last chance’ fatal fourway.
