Former AEW Star Criticizes ‘Stale’ AEW Show AEW

An AEW show has drawn criticism from a former AEW star who feels that the show isn’t what it was supposed to be.

Originally conceived as the home of AEW’s dark matches, AEW Dark has morphed from the home of largely self-contained matches into a programme where storylines feed in and out of what’s going on in the main television presentation.

Former AEW star Joey Janela recently took to Twitter to express his disappointment with what AEW Dark has become.

Responding to a Tweet that showcased the work of Rey Fenix and AR Fox, Janela stated:

“This is what dark should be, all around competitive action packed sprints, and maybe a one longer type storyline based match weekly. What that show does is nothing for anyone anymore, tbh it’s stale ass! Squash matches do nothing for anyone in 2022, especially on a YouTube show.

“No one wants to watch f**king squash matches on YouTube in 2022, I understand if you’re introducing a new wrestler on tv then I’m all for squash matches. This is the reason for talent degression doing nothing but pointless bulls**t for the sake of it.

“I always made it a point to make my matches with local talents 60/40 or even 50/50, because I’m a fan myself and I know that I would never waste my time watching something presented like that & was constantly watching me get s**ttier in ring. That’s my Wednesday morning rant!”

With almost 170 episodes of the series, at the time of writing, AEW Dark continues to garner a solid audience on YouTube, with the viewing numbers for some episodes of the show regularly exceeding 250,000 views and some episodes doing at least double that number.
