John Cena has taken to Twitter to respond to comments made by CM Punk about their match at the 2011 Money in the Bank show in Chicago.
Punk’s original tweet, which he posted two days ago on the nine year anniversary of the event, read:
I did a thing nine years ago. Couldn’t have done it without @JohnCena, @WWEArmstrong and most importantly the fans. That crowd, that atmosphere is something I’ll never forget. Thank you all. #MITB
Today, John Cena has responded, writing:
I bet on myself that night, the usual amount. Not a smart wager choosing the guy who can’t wrestle over the best in the world, but I’d like to think we all won that night. Thank you for allowing me to be part of something so many were entertained by.
The way that match captured and gripped fans is something very, very few matches since then have been able to do, and it’s one that those who watched it will probably never forget.
