John Cena Says WWE’s Future Will Be Less Stable The Longer They Bet On Aging Prospects

John Cena made his return to WWE at Money In The Bank on July 18 to challenge Universal Champion Roman Reigns to a match at SummerSlam.

Parallel on the Raw side, Goldberg made his return to the company 24 hours later to challenge WWE Champion Bobby Lashley, also for a match at SummerSlam.

WWE’s overreliance on ‘part timers’ has not been lost on many WWE fans, or apparently even John Cena himself. Cena recently spoke to USA Today to promote the Suicide Squad, where he talked about his current role on the WWE roster, saying:

“Man, I wish there was some sort of fountain of youth where I could be a full-time contributor. The longer they continue to bet on an aging prospect, that makes (WWE’s) future a little bit less stable.”

Cena and Reigns are set to collide at SummerSlam for the Universal Championship, an event which recently had WWE fearful that it would not be going ahead as planned.
