Kurt Angle Comments On Stephanie McMahon’s WWE Resignation & AEW Merger Rumours WWE

The wrestling world has been rather busy with news this week as it pertains to a potential sale of WWE.

The news began on Tuesday, when it was announced that Stephanie McMahon had resigned from her position as the co-CEO of the company.

A man very familiar with Stephanie, WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle, reacted to the news on the latest episode of the Kurt Angle Show podcast.

He said:

“I’m surprised. I didn’t expect Stephanie to resign.

“I’m not sure if she did it because of her father, but she is a classy woman. She was a great employer. she reminded me a lot of Vince in many ways. I think that’s why he trusted the company with her, but I’m just really surprised that she resigned.”

There have been many rumours about potential WWE buyers, with reports that Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund had agreed to a deal to purchase the company, which was later debunked.

Saudi Arabia remain ‘in the pool’ of buyers for the company, but they are not considered the favourites.

Also in the pool is AEW; with Shad and Tony Khan interested in merging their company with Vince McMahon’s conglomerate.

Angle commented on the rumours of AEW and Tony Khan merging with WWE, stating that it would leave the wrestling world right where it was when Vince McMahon controlled everything.

He said:

“Oh, God, man. Tony Khan would own all of it… A monopoly, yes. The same thing is what we did with Vince McMahon before AEW came in.”

There has been an update on recent reports that Triple H and Stephanie McMahon ‘opposed’ a WWE sale prior to Stephanie’s resignation.
