Former WWE star Lars Sullivan has opened up about being released by WWE after news of the release broke yesterday.
Fightful Select reached out to Sullivan and heard back from him, and he spoke openly about his release and time with WWE.
Sullivan confirmed that the release did actually happen, and praised WWE for handling it with “compassion and honesty”. WWE hasn’t actually issued a statement on his release but he believes that’s the company being nice about the situation.
He said that he’d been battling crippling anxiety and informed WWE he was done with wrestling. He had days where he was struggling to eat on days of shows and having trouble sleeping.
Sullivan’s father passed away last year which only served to add to his troubles.
He took responsibility and owned up to a number of issues from the past that had come to light during his WWE tenure, referring to some of them as “idiocy” and “his own selfish behavior”.
Sullivan reiterated that he was treated well by WWE management and the locker room, and it was not a case of bullying that led to his departure.
He also said he saw his most recent sit-down interview with Michael Cole as a positive thing and the company trying to add more depth to his character, despite a high-level WWE source having said it may have been sabotage.
