Major Update On NXT Women’s Championship Following Last Week’s Ending WWE

Shawn Michaels has provided a major update on the NXT Women’s Championship following last week’s ending.

On the March 7 edition of WWE NXT, Roxanne Perez defeated Meiko Satomura to retain the NXT Women’s Championship.

Following the bout, Perez collapsed and got stretchered out of the building, which was just an angle with the idea that Satomura, who was trying to be a mentor, had accidentally ended up overwoking Perez before and during the match.

WWE provided an “update” over the weekend that Roxanne had been discharged from the hospital.

On Tuesday, Shawn Michaels provided a further update by tweeting the following:

“As of Friday Morning Roxanne Perez was discharged from the hospital. However after numerous tests Roxanne’s health is still in question. With Stand and Deliver in less than three weeks I have the obligation to announce we possibly have to crown a New NXT Women’s Champion.”

In a followup tweet, Michaels stated his intention to set up a ladder match at the upcoming NXT Stand and Deliver event on April 1.

He tweeted:

“Starting tonight there will be a series of qualifying matches with the winners advancing to Stand and Deliver to compete to become the NXT Women’s Champion in a Ladder Match.”

Given the wording of the announcement, it remains to be seen if Roxanne Perez will defend her title in the ladder match, or if this will set up a double champion situation in the aftermath of Stand and Deliver.
