Malakai Black Nixed WWE SummerSlam Plans Revealed

Details have emerged on scrapped plans for Malakai Black (fka Aleister Black) at this year’s SummerSlam pay-per-view.

On the May 21 edition of SmackDown, Black attacked Big E, costing him the Intercontinental Championship four-way bout. The former NXT Champion was released by WWE shortly after, on June 2.

TalkSPORT’s Alex McCarthy exclusively revealed on Wrestling Daily – part of the WrestleTalk network – that there were plans for Black to face Big E at SummerSlam.

McCarthy also spoke to Big E this week, who stated he had no clue what the plans for his feud with Black were. Big E noted that he didn’t even know he was going to be attacked by Black until moments before he went through the curtain for the title bout.

Black ultimately made his AEW debut on the July 7 Dynamite Road Rager special. It was revealed that a contract oversight meant he only had a 30 day non-compete clause instead of the 90 day clause most main-roster talents have.

Big E defended his Money in the Bank briefcase against Baron Corbin on the SummerSlam pre-show. He is currently WWE Champion, successfully cashing in his contract on Bobby Lashley during the September 13 episode of Raw.
