AEW Star Thinks It’s Possible Cody Rhodes Lost At WWE WrestleMania Due To AEW Association WWE

An AEW star thinks it is possible Cody Rhodes lost at WWE WrestleMania 39 due to his AEW association.

At WrestleMania 39, Roman Reigns defeated Cody Rhodes to retain the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship. This decision has elicited a massive uproar from their fanbase with most fans believing that Rhodes would end the legendary reign of “The Tribal Chief.”

Many fans were perplexed at the booking decision due to the “finishing the story” journey for Cody. Despite reports alluding to this always being the plan, an AEW star believes that there was another reason at hand.

Rhodes was of course instrumental in building and establishing WWE’s rival company, All Elite Wrestling, where he served as Executive Vice President and a former three-time TNT Champion as an in-ring talent.

Speaking on the latest episode of The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy, the former WWE star said he believes Cody’s promising win may have been tainted by Vince McMahon due to his association with AEW. He said:

“Cody, he ends up leaving, he goes out, he creates a company, he creates success. He gets himself over. He’s a big deal and [people are] all behind him.”

“Vince comes in at the end of the day, like, ‘hold up, before you are going to run this ship, I’m going to show you. I’ll make you earn it.’ I mean, that’s a possibility,”

“I don’t know if that is the actual factual, true deal [though].”

Despite Hardy’s speculation, it has been previously reported that Roman Reigns defeating Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania 39 was “always the plan.”
