Matt Riddle Comments On Seth Rollins Using Personal Insults In Their Feud WWE

The Fight Pit match is set to make it’s first appearance on the WWE main roster at Extreme Rules, when Seth ‘Freakin’ Rollins and Matt Riddle duke it out inside the structure, with former UFC Heavyweight Champion Daniel Cormier serving as the special guest referee.

The storyline between Riddle and Rollins took a rather personal turn the week before their first match at Clash at the Castle, when Seth Rollins went off on Matt Riddle during an interview, throwing personal insults at him about his recent real life divorce.

Rollins went to the personal insults hole again on this week’s go home show, where he again referenced Riddle having to pay child support and his divorce, with Riddle unable to put his hands on Rollins due to a no contact clause.

Many fans watching were shocked by Rollins’ comments, not believing that Riddle had given the green light for Seth to say those things as part of the story. Well, Riddle was a guest on WWE After the Bell this week, where he spoke about his thoughts on Rollins using the personal insults in their story.

He explained why, to him, using them on TV has been a blessing in disguise.

He said:

“I think he [Rollins] realizes what I bring to the table. What I’m willing to do to get reactions from the crowd. You know, when we go personal, we talk about things we probably shouldn’t be talking about. But I’m like, bro, I don’t care. I do pay child support. Things are rough for me. And for me, I honestly see this as more of a therapeutic thing because anybody who knows me knows what I’m going through. [People] are like ‘I can’t believe. If he would have said that to me. If I was going through that.’ Everybody who’s been in that spot, in that moment, can relate.”

Riddle continued on, speaking about how he likes to make his stories as real as possible, as that helps the fans relate to what they are seeing on screen.

He said:

“I want people to relate. Everybody can relate to being the smaller brother or friend who just wants to be cool and have the other brother like him. That’s me and Randy. With Seth, it’s just two guys who don’t like each other and Seth has talked some crap that he shouldn’t have been talking. For me, the more real it is, the easier it is and the better it is. And that’s what makes me working with Seth so good. Because he’s the same way. He likes to go all in.”
